The Deer Run Lodge is nestled in twenty-three acres of majestic towering pines, offering a true change of pace, with its 1,800 foot altitude virtually guaranteeing a great night's sleep. It's location on the shore of beautiful Big St. Germain Lake offers a full view of spectacular sunsets. The level, landscaped grounds and abundant forests beckon you to partake of the wonders of Mother Nature.

Big St. Germain Lake is one of Wisconsin 's top ten fishing lakes, from boat or through the ice. It offers some of the finest Muskie fishing in the world, as well as trophy Walleye, Northern, Trout, Bass, Crappie, Pan-fish and Perch.

It's also centrally located to hunting areas, snowmobile trails, a national park, nature trails, and historical places. We offer Northwoods seclusion with convenient access to entertainment, fine dining, and shopping. Our lodge offers every imaginable amenity, inside and out.

The lake and surrounding forests support an abundance of wildlife, game animals and birds. Deer, duck and ruffled grouse are most hunter sportsman's favorites.

 

Located on the shore of Big St. Germain Lake in St. Germain , Wisconsin at the northern end of Vilas County , is surrounded by 1300+ lakes and 1,743 shoreline miles and is the heart of the most outstanding vacation area in the upper Midwest . The scenery of natural resources - 73 rivers and streams and one-half million acres of forest lands - makes Vilas County a top vacationland. Two national forests are part of Vilas County - The Nicolet and Chequamegon.

The largest state forest in Wisconsin is the 150,000-acre Northern Highland State Forest . It lies west and north of St. Germain. The 40,785.91-acre Vilas County Forest offers 11 walking trail systems totaling 89.7 miles, and 11 boat landings. As a result of its glacial past, Vilas County is centered in one of the world’s most concentrated lake districts aka Northern Highland Lake District. Twelve watersheds flow in the county including the headwaters of the Wisconsin River . The county's landscape ranges from broad, nearly level glacial outwash plains to rough, broken glacial moraines and areas of pitted outwash

The scenery of Big St. Germain Lake and Vilas County is absolutely breathtaking. Nature lovers will enjoy the migrating birds, great blue heron, loons, ravens, turkey and bald eagles. Common sightings throughout the year include white-tailed deer, black bear, porcupines, osprey, beaver, woodpecker, hummingbirds, wood ducks, the elusive gray jay, marten, fisher and otter.

You don't have to be a sportsman to enjoy your stay at Deer Run Lodge, as recreational activities are versatile, with something of interest for everyone, regardless of age.

Once in St. Germain, WI Hwy 70 runs into WI-155 N

  • Take Hwy 70 to WI-155 N
  • Continue on WI -155 N (about 2.6 miles)
  • Turn LEFT at Lake Drive (in front of large billboard at bottom of hill on LEFT side)
  • Follow Lake Drive (2/10 mile)
  • Drive one “block” Turn LEFT onto Big St. Germain Drive (You will see a grassy triangle, Deer Run Lodge sign on right side)
  • Stay to the right and drive straight one more “block”
  • The lodge is STRAIGHT ahead
  • Looking at the front of the lodge, the rental front door is to the left. While looking at the lodge from the front, a path to the right of the lodge leads you lakeside to the office

Cars – RIGHT near renal lodge or LEFT near trees in rear
Trailers – LEFT beneath trees in rear
